Here are some tips to follow so that together we can provide the optimal care that your wedding dress deserves!
Whether your dress was custom-made, purchased off-the-rack, or ordered through one of Manhattan’s leading bridal salons, there are several steps to clean and preserve it: Cleaning, Drying, Preserving, and Care.
Wedding Dress Cleaning
You may bring your gown to our premises, or call to arrange its pickup and delivery. Once it is received, your bridal dress will be assessed by our experts. Depending on its fabric, embellishment, age and condition, cleaning may require one or all of the following techniques: Hand Washing in gentle soap and cool water. Dry Cleaning: to remove perspiration and other oils to prevent staining over time, as well as any food stains. Spot Cleaning: Depending on the fabric and condition of your dress, spot cleaning with a stain remover product will remove most set-in stains.
Drying
This step is essential prior to preserving your gown, and is often overlooked. It is imperative that all moisture be removed from your garment. Cameo by Copeland Cleaners, your bridal gown cleaning experts, will use techniques to gently squeeze out excess water, pad the garment to absorb any moisture that remains, then hang the gown only on a padded hanger to ensure it is completely dry before proceeding.
Wedding Dress Preservation
After your bridal dress has been cleaned and dried, it will be carefully pressed, then wrapped in acid-free materials, placed in an acid-free box, which itself will be covered in muslin before it is presented to you. You may open and examine or display your gown at any time, just be sure to return it to the box and re-wrapped in the protective coverings provided.
There are so many details prior to your wedding, but it is also important not to forget to clean and store your wedding gown properly. We congratulate you on your nuptials, and look forward to serving you when you are ready to contact our professionals regarding your bridal gown cleaning and preservation.
